Symptoms

1. The error may be reported when performing any type of activities.
2. The error might be reported while running a backup for an AS400 backup set.

Cause

1. If only one DS-Client reports this error you should check for related errors (memory, disk space, machine reboot, network connection loss). This is most likely related to network issues between the DS-System and DS-Client.
OR
This could also be related to Windows Networking issues.

2. The default value for a DS-Client advanced parameter is to low.

Workaround

1. Check to make sure that your network and networking devices are functioning properly. Also check bandwidth limitations.
OR
Update to the latest Windows Service Pack and apply any other updates related to networking. On Windows Server 2003 SP2 this could be related to this specific hot fix http:support.microsoft.com/kb/948496.

2. Increase to 30 for example the value for MinApiMsgTimeout in DS-User > Setup > Configuration > Advanced > Communication, then run the backup again.
